Investing in a vacation home?

Last year it was announced that the number of recreational homes for sale is almost "depleted. Why is it currently so interesting to invest in a vacation home?

In addition, we have a very good cooperation with renowned tour operators such as Booking.com and Belvilla. Their reservations contribute to the rental of the vacation home throughout the year."

Maintenance costs are often mentioned as a pitfall. How do you avoid disappointing these costs?
"In a consultation with our advisors, all maintenance costs are listed. In practice, people understand that a kitchen, for example, has to be replaced once. After all, the same has to be done at home. If the owner chooses to rent out a lot, we have special inventory packages that have been tested beforehand and are therefore rental-proof. This way you are assured of an inventory set that will last for years."

How often do you need to use your cottage to make the investment profitable?
"This question is difficult to answer because the outcome depends on the factors discussed earlier. In addition, each guest has their own preferences for a vacation; from basic to luxury."

Do people who own a vacation home in the Netherlands use it more often than if they owned a house in the south of France, for example?
"We see that many people buy a vacation home partly for their own use, but also purely as an investment. When people also want to use the house themselves, this usually happens in the periods when the occupancy at the parks is lower. This is ideal because then you can benefit from nice rental income by making the home available for rental during the most favorable periods and enjoy it yourself during the low season. Owning a vacation home in the Netherlands is easier. You then take the decision to get away from it last minute quicker."
